How long have you been writing?

I starting writing in high school and college, and wrote thousands of  non-fiction and legal documents, two books, many training courses, including about fifty online course,  even the text of a comic book, before retiring from my regular career.
About three years ago, I began writing screenplays for fun, including a full length feature script based on my family’s unusually history.  That progressed to short stories and now, to novels in three different series.

How many books have you wrote?

I have nine books currently available through Amazon, Smashwords, iBooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and other retailers. The mystery/action/adventure books generally fall into two series: The Detective Mike Eiser Series, and The Adventures of Harry Morgan Series. There are also dystopian/science fiction stories that include The Mark of the Beast Series and other similar books. There is a newly released novel, Schism, in the Detective Mike Eiser Series, and a second new novel, Angelica, on the way.

The Detective Mike Eiser books revolve around a fictional community of characters who live in a quiet country town in northeast Georgia. Throughout the series, more members of the community are introduced, and more is learned about the main characters with every story.

The Adventures of Harry Morgan Series revolves around an active retiree and his retired friends. This series focuses on how older people may handle stressful situations.

The Mark of the Beast Series focuses on the potential for personal and social disaster following implantation of RFID chips to exert social and financial control.

What genre of books do you write?

Most are mystery/crime or police action/ adventure, but I also write dystopian and science fiction genre as well.

Who or what inspires you to write?

I don’t know.  I just love to hear and to tell stories. It’s inside me. I have a lot of life experience upon which to base tales.  I have always been an incessant reader (my Kindle account lists 368 titles).  Successful reading requires sharp visualization and imagination, both of which I love to share with others.

What books do you like?

I tend to read mystery/action/adventure/intrigue and science fiction.  I also read some historical fiction.  My favorite authors range in breadth from Edgar Allen Poe to Mark Twain, to John LeCarre, to Robert Ludlum to David Balducci and John Grisham, and more recently to George Wier, Scott William Carter, Michael Grumley and Lee Child and many other mystery and action writers. From there to science fiction with classics by Andre Norton, Issac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, and Robert Silverburg and more recently, any number of modern science fiction writers. I always look for quality story lines.

Give a little bit of details of you.
Profile:
After a thirty-seven year career in professional environmental protection during which he helped create and manage new programs, trained and managed hundreds of people and was involved with most major environmental protection programs that evolved after the mid 1970’s, he decided to indulge a life-long dream and write fiction.

Somewhere along the way a life-long love of reading merged with a life-long natural science fascination, giving birth to a love of fiction writing across a variety of genre. Writing fiction is the pure joy of using imagination– an an effective way to share creative visualization with others.

Excerpt:

Schism, A Detective Mike Eiser Novel (1 1/2 pg. from the Prologue)

Two hours later, MD sat alone in an interview room. The room contained a table, three chairs and a mirror on the wall that MD knew to be an observation window. It also had a locked door that eventually opened to admit the tall thin ATF man and short stocky man in a dark suit, white shirt and red tie.
The thin man held out his hand.  “Mr. Lincoln, I’m ATF Special Agent Jack Cagle, and this”…he gestured toward the other man…“is Assistant U.S. Attorney Archie Spellman.”
MD just stared at them.  He made no move to take Cagle’s outstretched hand.
“Ok, Mr. Lincoln,” said Spellman, “I won’t beat around the bush.  We have you dead to rights for gun smuggling and a number of other Title 18 charges we haven’t had time to think about yet.  You’re looking at a large number of years in prison…especially given your record to date.”
MD stared at him.  “Ah’m not afraid o' jail!”
“No, so far your worst experience has been five years at a Florida prison farm for drug trafficking.  I’m talking about high security federal prisons for terms of twenty-five years or more.”
“Who is you kidding…Ah’ve heard all ‘bout federal country clubs.”
“Oh…I get it! But, obviously, you don’t.  Those are prisons for low level white collar criminals who are serving relatively light sentences.  I’m talking about an extended stay in the toughest prisons in America…where you’ll become some jolly green tattooed giant’s bitch within a week…and they’ll pass you around for years.”
“Yo…so, if you gots me dead ta rights, like you said, why ain’t you putting me away instead o' putting me ta sleep?”
“Well, it could be advantageous to the government…even to us…to keep you out of jail for a while.  You see, we know that the Raven’s Claws move guns into Atlanta and other major cities and that those guns turn up on the street.  We know a little about the profits in those operations …that you’ve been the middleman because you have the contacts with the suppliers.  Well, we have contacts with people who need the merchandise and are willing to pay for it.  It’s just that we need to divert the flow of weapons from the Claws’ buyers to ours.  You’ll be a government informant.  What you tell us about the Claws we use against the Claws.  You broker deals with your suppliers and we broker deals with our buyers, your information about the Claws is used by the government to keep them out of the picture, you stay out of jail, and everybody, except the Claws, of course, is much happier.
“Yo…You’re getting’ rich…ah’m takin’ da risk an' getting shit!”
“You get a get out of jail free card, “said Spellman.  “We keep your ass out of prison for as long as you produce…as long as the entire operation goes smoothly.  If it doesn’t go smoothly, you go to prison…end of story!  Your contact is Special Agent Cagle…everything goes through him…you don’t crap unless he knows about it!”
“Da Claws’ll kill me. What could ah tell dem dat would make dem believe me?”
Cagle spoke, “Tell them you bolted out the side door when it went down and were the only one to get away.”
“Now you really wants me dead! Ah can’t tell dem ah ran away. Fuck that shit!”
“Ok,” said Spellman.  “Tell them the operation apparently wasn’t clean on the government’s side and the Grand Jury failed to indict you on our evidence, so the investigation’s continuing.  For our part, of course…we neither confirm nor deny whether there even is an investigation.”
“Ah’ll think 'bout it. Ya' know what I'm sayin'?”
“Don’t think long. The offer’s only good until tomorrow morning.”
